Senior Public Affairs Manager – innovative FTSE 250 professional services company
My client, an innovative professional services company, is looking to add a Senior Public Affairs Manager to its external communications team.
This is a newly created role, on the back of significant growth in public affairs activity, and will be based in stunning central London offices (3 days in, 2 days out).
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a couple of reasons:
– firstly, as a FTSE 250, the company’s offering spans a remarkable breadth of sector activity. As such there is enormous scope when it comes to telling positive stories. Current focus areas include decarbonisation & net zero, technology and AI, and skills apprenticeships. Other services it offers include risk assessment, real estate, catering and environmental. Indeed it manages and maintains some of the nation’s most recognised landmarks, high street buildings, retail outlets and even homes in the community
– secondly, the role itself is broad from a comms discipline perspective. Indeed the team is ideally looking for an all rounder, capable of integrating public affairs expertise with elements of comms and media work. That said, your core expertise will sit in public affairs, government relations, running big ministerial events, ensuring a strong Westminster presence, developing major engagement programmes, and keeping abreast of policy that impacts the business and how it lobbies for change. As such it requires someone who knows their way round Westminster, and has done a lot of it before.
One vital ingredient that applies to all hires the business makes it a positive attitude. This is genuinely a business that rewards proactivity, and one where you can make a difference beyond the confines of external relations. For example, the business’ net zero plan was developed by the comms team, and those ‘green’ credentials have been cited as a major attraction by recently acquired partners.
